Senate Judiciary Committee approved a bill to block criminal investigations by the governor, including his gambling task force. Goes to Senate. Senate Finance and Taxation-Education Committee approved a bill designed to keep the state's pension costs for educators and state workers from increasing next year. Goes to Senate. House Education Appropriations Committee approved three bills that supporters say will ensure college tuition is paid for the 45,000 children whose parents bought contracts in the state's prepaid college tuition program. Goes to House. House Education Appropriations Committee voted to indefinitely postpone a bill to create charter schools in Alabama.
